Depression & Anxiety

MOOD DISORDERS THAT PARALYZE

Both anxiety and depression can affect us not only emotionally but also physically.  Often people come to therapy seeking help because all of the physical symptoms they are experiencing cannot be explained by any doctor, or because they have had many tests and consultations without finding relief.

For example, physical symptoms may include:

  • Body aches

  • Muscle tension

  • Digestive problems

  • Impaired sleep

  • Headaches and/or Migraines

  • Fatigue

Emotional indicators could include:

  • Hopelessness

  • Constant pessimism

  • Emotional numbness

  • Tearfulness

  • Obsessive thinking

  • Fearfulness

Everyone gets sad or worried now and then, but when these symptoms begin to interfere with your relationships, your work or your daily life, it may be time to seek support.

Therapy provides an environment where you can explore the reasons for the depression or anxiety in your life.  You will also learn practical ways to alleviate their negative impact and develop a life that is more affirming and rewarding.

"Many of us spend our whole lives running from feelings with the mistaken belief that you cannot bear the pain. But you have already borne the pain. What you have not done is feel all you are beyond that pain." - Kahlil Gibran
